The Professional Studies subject is part of the programme currently offered by the college and
is a primary teacher training programme, which requires full-time attendance at
the college for a period of two years. This course aims at helping students
develop confidence, initiatives, flexibility and personal involvement in the
education process.
It also helps the students to develop various skills and strategies for classroom teaching.
Students need to develop an understanding of the society in which they will be teaching. They are also
going to be taught how to reflect on the roles of the teacher, to develop the
lesson plans to meet the needs of the assigned practicum class and prepare
resources to support the lesson plans. One other important section in this
subject is to help students with the study of child of Child Psychology is also
vital area, which is included in this course. It is to help the students
develop broader knowledge about the different stages through which children
pass in their Psychomotor, intellectual, emotional and social development.
Through this course the student teacher becomes the instigator of the planning,
teaching and evaluating of all activities.
