The development of appropriate health attitudes and behaviors early in life is
of fundamental importance to the growing child and the adoption of a healthy
lifestyle. Individuals need to be able to make informed decisions about
personal and community health and be encouraged to take responsibility for such
decisions. Therefore students require the knowledge and skills necessary to
help them make informed decisions regarding their own health and well being and
that of the children they teach.
