SS11. Me and My World
This course aims to provide
the teacher trainees with basic information about the individual. It focuses on
developing self esteem, identifying roles and responsibilities within the
family, village and community as well as the nation as a whole. It also aims to
provide the trainees skills in developing informed attitudes such as being
responsible, being honest and more importantly, friendly attitudes.
SS12. Our Communities
This course aims
to provide the teacher trainees with basic information about the different
types of communities that we have in Vanuatu, such communities that we find in
the school, village, islands and nation as a whole. The course should enable
the trainees to identity the responsibilities practiced in each communities and
how they are expected to react in each situation.
SS13. Religious Education Values
This course aims to explore
the various components that make up the Bible taking into account the various
values that are prevalent in the Vanuatu Context. In addition it will emphasis
the various methods of teaching values.
SS21. Our Country - Vanuatu
This course aims
to provide the teacher trainees with a through understanding of the historical
development Vanuatu. It is also important to assist the students in realizing
the role and responsibilities that Vanuatu plays nationally and
internationally. Trainees need to develop their own understanding about
the roles and responsibilities of their country and to be able to share this
knowledge with their students.
SS22. Our Neighbours - Vanuatu and the World
This course aims to provide
the teacher trainees with the basic understanding that no country lives in
isolation. On the contrary it is important that teachers and their students are
aware of the role their nation plays with her near neighbours. The relationship
involves tourism, trade, travel, shipping and the exchange of ideas.
SS23. Global Studies
This course aims
to provide the teacher trainees with an understanding of the outside world
regarding the different types of cultures. An integral part of this course is
to enable the students to see how human race depends on each other for survival
especially with resources which we might not have available in our countries
will have to be imported from somewhere else. Students will also be aware of
the fact that international decisions can affect the way we live thus
cooperation between countries ought to be maintained.
