AS11. Computing
Pass/Fail.
Throughout the year students have access to the computer laboratory in the Library complex in
which to do their course work and assignments. This course gives students practical hands-on
experience using Windows, Word, Excel, email and the Internet. It is taught in the first ten
weeks of Semester 1. Students learn how to use computer software to write and present
assignments, communicate with colleagues and staff and conduct research. As part of this course,
and by the end of the first semester at the Institute, students are also required to demonstrate
a proficiency in touch-typing.
AS22. First Aid
Pass/Fail.
The course is run by the Red Cross Society of Vanuatu. It provides students with basic knowledge
and skills to qualify them to assist in case of an accident or illness when a doctor is not
available. Students are awarded with a practical first aid certificate upon successful completion
of the course.
