Students may
encounter problems during the two year duration of their
study at the institute. These may include health, management of finances,
home conditions, family responsibilities, alcohol and
substance abuse, relationships and spiritual concerns. If a
student believes that personal problems are affecting or may
have an effect on his or her academic or future professional
life, he or she is strongly encouraged to discuss this with
a lecturer or the Programme Coordinator of the respective section. This person will
treat personal concerns with respect and is not allowed to
breach confidentiality unless authorised by the student. The
concern of any staff member told of such matters will be to
try to provide, or indicate ways to access, appropriate
help. Where necessary, a lecturer will inform the Programme
Committee of problems affecting the student’s work, while
respecting confidentiality.
